Revolutionize

The following is an autobiography by a Jacobs’ Journal staff member.

My name is Saarthak Trivedi and I am a freshman at ERC studying Computer Science. Besides studying, I enjoy playing tennis and video-games. Although they are very difficult, I specifically like the FromSoftware games. As for music, Juice WRLD is my undisputed favorite. The beauty of his music lies in the simplicity of the beats and the occasional imperfections which convey a sense of humanity to the listener.

The reason I am interested in research is that the idea of a revolution excites me. A revolution is something that changes the way people think. The American Revolution led to the birth of a new nation while also changing the image of the British empire as an absolute authority. Similarly, Steve Jobs successfully managed to bring computers into the homes of common people. More recently, Elon Musk has helped make electric cars commonplace. Since research is driven by the pursuit of previously unknown knowledge, one discovers something new every day, something potentially revolutionary. Thus, regardless of whether I decide to stay in academia or try to develop a product of my own, I believe that research experience will be extremely beneficial.

I am a firm believer that all knowledge proves to be useful sooner or later. Therefore I welcome any and all forms of intellectual stimulation but if I were to name a few topics I am most curious about, they would be Brain-Computer Interfaces, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. I believe that Jacob’s Journal will expose me to the developments in the various fields within engineering while also helping me improve my analytical skills.
